Int/Adv Modern Dance with Pablo Cornejo
Sundays 10-12 noon
Pablo Cornejo's modern class is influenced by his experience in many forms of movement, from Andean folkloric dance and ballet to modern dance, improvisation and contact. His class integrates this variety of vocabularies, which focuses on full - bodied phrase work utilizing the floor, momentum, upside down, perspectives and dynamic rhythm changes. Int/Adv Modern Technique with Aiko Kinoshita
This Monday evening class is on hiatus until August
Aiko's class is informed by contemporary ballet and modern dance techniques, somatics and release techniques, contact and improvisation. The class will encourage students to find confidence and joy in their own creative and physical potential while challenging them to find a greater range of expression through dynamic physicality and specificity. Students will explore new movement possibilities and work to increase their understanding of momentum and weight. They will also play with being upside down and right side up and moving in and out of the floor with ease. Full-bodied phrases full of motion, oppositional tension, and weight change will follow a simple warm-up that emphasizes clean technique and articulation of the body. Intermediate Ballet with Violette Tucker
Tuesdays 6:15-7:45pm
Explore and develop your articulate body, dynamic range and performance quality through full-bodied movement and sound structural fundamentals. Contemporary & Traditional African Dance with Etienne Cakpo
Wednesdays 10-11:30am AND Fridays 7-8:30pm
Etienne Cakpo is a professional dancer, choreographer and musician from Benin, West Africa. He teaches and performs traditional African dance from Benin as well as contemporary African dance styles, and has been building his dance repertoire for over twenty years. In addition to conducting personal research to learn regional dances and musical traditions in his country, Etienne has worked in remote areas of Benin with international ethnomusicologists, musicians and filmmakers. Currently based in Seattle, Etienne contributes regularly to the cultural arts community in Western Washington, and performs in solo events and group shows. He is director of Gansango Music & Dance.

"Zum-lates" - Latin/Funk Movement Class with Amy Buck
Wednesdays 12:30-1:30pmAmy's class is a fusion of hip shaking Latin/Funk moves with STOTT pilates. You will learn basic Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Flamenco, Samba, and Reggaeton dance movements while focusing on strengthening your spine, back and core. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms, and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor, international zest and Pilates into the mix and you've got Zum-lates!
Amy comes here by way of Sun Valley, Idaho, where she was an accomplished snowboard instructor as well as being
associated with an outdoor adventure company as co-owner and travel guide. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a BSED in Early Childhood
Education. Amy has been teaching ZUMBA for the last year and loves the fusion of dancing and pilates wrapped up in one spicy hour.
Please bring a yoga mat and clean white-soled, low profile shoes. All levels welcome!

Int/Adv Contemporary Dance Technique/ Practice with Kristin Hapke
Thursdays 10-noon
This class seeks to prepare the dancer to be articulate, alert and connected through a continuous warm-up that focuses on the use of release, alignment, momentum, weight and strength. Highly influenced by Bartenieff Fundamentals, Yoga, Release technique, Forsythe and tai chi, the intent is to strengthen and cultivate the body's energies in order to work in harmony with power, ease and release. We will investigate choreographic structures, improvisations, partner work and range of dynamics within performance constructs to further our personal practice and research.
Kristin Hapke, (Artistic director tindance) has recently relocated from New York, where she was a guest teacher at Hunter College and presented work at such places as Joyce Soho, WAX Works, DNA, Danspace and Dumbo Dance Festival. Her teaching experience includes technique, somatics, improvisation and movement analysis at The Ohio State University, Cornish College of the Arts, Columbus Dance Theater and Velocity as well as many festivals such as SFADI and Silesian Dance Festival in Poland. Hapke received her MFA in Dance from Ohio State and has danced works of Bebe Miller, Zvi Gotheiner, Molly Scott and Maureen Whiting as well as many others.

Capoeira with Marcos Fernandes
Thursdays 5:30-7pm AND Saturdays noon-1:30pm
"The beauty of Capoeira is that one never knows when the game will turn into a dance, when the dance will turn into a fight or when the fight will turn into a game. Capoeira is none of these things individually but all of these things together." We welcome any person who wishes to "play the game". Marcos has a degree in Physical Education from Brazil. He first began teaching Capoeira in Cambridge, England, and has been teaching in Seattle since September 2004.

Beginning Sean-nós Dance with Alicia Guinn

Rhythmic, playful, inventive! Sean-nós is a fun, easy form of old-style Irish step dancing. Explore the basic movements, steps, and rhythms of sean-nós dance in this class. This class generally runs as a five-week series, but drop-ins are always welcome.
